Fancypants Slugs

Big Luxe Slug

It’s getting a little out-of-control here in the Uncommon Slug department. Our knit slugs are getting fancier and fancier. Slug royalty, fantasy slugs (huh?) even glittery slugs – ew! How lovely!

Festive Cheer

Quirky stocking stuffers

Merry Christmas Slug stocking stuffers

It’s Fireworks night here tonight which means it’s nearly Christmas! To help make Christmas very merry I’ve designed these knit slug stocking stuffers in berry red, Christmas tree green and snowy white.

You can get them individually, in sets of 3, 5 or 10. Each Merry Christmas Slug is individually trapped in its own cello bag with “Merry Christmas Slug Ho! Ho! Ho!” card topper. How cute tucked in a Christmas stocking?

Individually trapped

Trapped so they don't need wrapped

Two Lullaby Lily friends have already captured sets of 5 and 10. The lady who bought 10 is giving them to her slug-loving friend with the idea that they are used as tree decorations – how clever is that? When she mentioned her sweet idea I imagined them slithering around a Christmas dinner table, ew! Lovely.

I never thought of them as Christmas decorations.

Hello? Do I hear Martha Stewart calling?

Custom loveys

Gracie and Zozzy Slugs

Created to order: Gracie and Zozzy Slugs

I love it when someone asks me to make a particular lovey for them. I feel that their energy somehow gets knitted-in and gives the toys something extra.

Here’s my latest custom order – for two co-ordinated slugs; one in mottled purple, the other in mottled pink. Their person wants them to be called “Zozzy and Gracie”. How cute is that?

Winter’s coming

What a piece of translucent loveliness in cool blues and zing reds. I’m all warm inside about my new Snow Slug being featured in this divine Etsy front page treasury! Knit slugs world domination

Knit slug actual pattern

Uncommon Knit Slug pattern excerpt

Oh the excitement! Someone asked to buy my knit Slug pattern so ta-ra! I’ve written it up, made it a nice PDF (without the slugs slithering all over it) and am about to make it available in my shop!

Get ready for knit slug world domination!

Let’s reminice for a moment about candlewick blankets from the 1960’s. While I hadn’t intended to make a candlewick style pig, here she is! Beautifully soft and snuggly!

Big Furry Slug

Big Furry Slug

You might have noticed that I’m having a bit of a furry phase. This is mainly caused by having ordered some gorgeous luxury yarn and making all sorts of things out of it.

Now I know you might think that the pic above shows a em, blob of some sort. But let me reassure you that in real life it is a fine specimen of a Big Furry Slug!

I am really liking mixing chunky cotton yarn with the luxe faux fur yarn. Contrary to what my photo shows, it does allow more definition of the slug shape! *lol*

I have a little blush on today because the beautiful people at Coriandr.com have honored LullabyLily as a Featured Seller. Have a peep at the interview with me.

Gosh, mumble mumble. Thank you Coriandr.com.

Sparkly things

Tinsel Pig

Tinsel Pig

Gosh, I’m embarrassed by how long it’s been since my last entry. I have been distracted by many sparkly and interesting things including new darlings such as the golden tinsel porcine princess above.

I’ve just been answering interview questions for a Featured Seller article which has reminded me of one of the many wonderful things about making knit toys for sale. The customer element! Over the past several months I’ve been influenced in the loveliest way possible by people who love LullabyLily creatures. For example, Tinsel Pig would not have been made had two Lullaby Lily friends not told me how much they loved my tinsel mohair pony.

There’s something magical that happens when I make a knit toy, I never know just how it’s going to turn out until it’s finished. And now I’m really feeling the influence of what people think and like and have made comments about. It all sinks into my subconscious and is very inspiring. So thank you.

Woo-hoo to spring and pretty colors – Giant Whopper Slug just loves showing off on the front page! Here he/she is strangely loving being in the sunny limelight on 05.05.09. (And how funny he/she is right next to a frilly top serendipitously named the same as me.)
