No good stuffing

September 21, 2008

A friend gave me a link to what looked like great pure wool stuffing on ebay and even though I love the pure wool (sometimes even Merino) roving I get I thought I’d give this one a go.

Nope, don’t like it. Not using it. Immediately ordered a tonne of my gorgeous usual wool roving from my usual supplier at www.handmadepresents.co.uk. So I am waiting for stuffing. This has happened before – I knit up a storm in stuffing-less periods, it’s quite good really. I have today made a couple of adorable/disgusting Halloween Slugs in orange and black.

Who decides things like what colors represent what festivals. Like, why is Christmas all about green and red? Now giant supermarkets have decided (or was it us?) that Halloween is best represented by black and fluoro lime green and orange colors and occasionally a witchy-purple.

I’ve been knitting ghostly white slugs, black wizard slugs, orange and black slugs and bright pumpkin orange slugs in velvety chenille.

Halloween

September 20, 2008

I have just knitted 4 black cats for Halloween. Two are in black satin ribbon and black velvet chenille yarn, one in a black chunky ragged chenille with a pale silver sparkle through it (which sounds Halloween hideous but is instead delicious!) and one in black velvet chenille yarn double thickness.

I haven’t yet sewn and stuffed them but I can see already they will be adorable. So one stays home, one to the best friend and at least one for LullabyLily. Am going to make many!
